The first stop anyone covering district court should make is the media guide put out by the BAR association, linked to here, and stored on the FOG website, NMFog.org. This section is partially built on that guide and partially built on the Supreme Court rules for the courts (excluding magistrate.)
When in doubt, we will refer back to their media guide or the law itself. (It should be noted that the BAR guide was put together with very few newspaper reps, and mostly TV people, on the media side.)
Remember, you have rights! Judges, lawyers and bailiffs will try to tell you you can’t take pictures, do this or do that. They’re misinformed. Stand up for your rights and the public’s right to know.
